Education is the key to life and people need it in able to create something with it. You don’t need education but you can live a better life with it and that’s exactly what Katie and Johnny want for Francie and Neeley. To Katie and Johnny education is the light at the end of the tunnel but they could never get through it. It’s different for Francie and Neeley because they can get through that tunnel if they really wanted to but with money issues that light seems to be getting further and further away.
Francie is very intelligent and has so mush potential but the way she lives drags her back in being able to show the world her talents. Every time Francie gets ahead there is always something else there that holds her back. She struggles so hard at times she just wants to give up but Francie has strength and she can and will push on until she gets what she wants from life no matter what hardships are built up in front of her. But then there is Neeley, a very handsome young boy and he looks strong but inside he is like Johnny weak and dependent on his friends and family. Katie is trying to push Neeley to not only be good-looking but have an education and independent so he can exceed in life.
In reality, Education is what people need to get ahead in life. People believe that all they need in life is love, friends or money; which is true, but in order to get to that happiness they want, they need education to get the money and better social status. People need education because then they can get the life and respect they want from people above and below them.

Response 1 A Tree Grows in Brooklyn- Adolescences
Growing up is something that everyone goes through; adolescence is something no one can prevent. The main character, Francie, is growing up from Innocence to Experience and with the challenges that that brings. As Francie grows older she gets more experienced and starts to understand things that happen in Brooklyn and what is truly bad and truly good.
Some people try to run away from adolescences but that is impossible; it is something that has to happen in life no matter what. As you go through adolescence, children begin to finally understand the world around them. When Francie gets herself and Neeley vaccinated in order to go to school, she understands that what the doctors says to the nurse is insensible and very judgmental about how she lives. She understands that her people are different from the people of the doctor and that they look down upon her and her brother. The author also tries to tell the reader that people may seem evil but they really are just players of an evil game. They have to do whatever it takes to survive in the complicated, damaging world. As Francie grows she begins to understand how foolish Johnny is to put his trust in a corrupt politician and that Katie is right about learning to trust only yourself. Katie is trying to push back against the male dominant world and she is trying to teach Francie that it is wrong that women can’t vote and Francie eventually begins to comprehend what Katie is saying.
Adolescence is a huge part of becoming an experienced adult because the child learns so much about the world in that part of their life. Horrifying things may come from that part of someone’s life but life is full of cruel, horrible things and although that is true, the good moments in life, and even if there is few, make up for all those awful times and helps you forget if only for a short time.

Response to "The Circuit"
People should never run from hope but in the short story, “The Circuit”, Panchito, the young main character, does exactly that. For some people, hope is all they have and the characters in the story need hope the most but every time it comes calling, they hide from it. Panchito needs to run towards hope not from it because that is the only thing that can make him rise above his father’s and past family’s poor lifesytles.
Panchito is not a regular kid because of his family’s huge poverty issues. These problems are very realistic and have been with people in the past, present and will be with them in the future. Money is a huge part of a person’s life, even a child’s, and can make people feel like they’re encased in a box that shrinks and shrinks as money gets lower and lower. But there is always hope in a world of hopelessness. Panchito has the chance to get an education and every time that chance come, he runs as if this hope is a terrible evil, but you can’t edge very far away from hope. When Panchito finally finds the good in hope, he makes a mistake. He finds himself in this beautiful , mesmerizing life and he takes advantage of it. He looks at this life as if it’s the most beautiful rose he’s ever seen but after a while he gets lost in its sweet scent and he’s forced back into reality. As he comes to reality, it seems like a rug is ripped from beneath him and he is left there on the ground, hopeless. Life to him is a constant circuit and seems inescapable and he only hopes for that wonderful hope back to lift him up and above with endless possibilities and a chance at a better life.
No one can live without hope but Panchito is trying to go against it and when he gives in and goes to hope, he gets sucked in too far and makes it hard for him to take reality. But isn’t it true that with every mistake, comes something good? Panchito learned a huge life lesson that is really important. Don’t take advantage of hope and don’t get too far from reality otherwise when that hope is gone, reality is always there to hit you hard in the face.

Veterans Essay
Our military heroes should always be honored because of all the great deeds and sacrifices they have made for our country. Many veterans and soldiers have fought to the death but many have lived to come home. We American’s can’t forget about veterans just because they came home safe. They still have stories to tell and maybe none they want to tell but they should be honored for their patriotic services anyway. It is important to remember all who have freely chosen to join the military to protect and fight for freedoms and what is right. We have to remember that those veterans are important and didn’t go through war to be forgotten. They did it for many reasons including love and for the sake of our country and for that they deserve a huge thank you.
In the United States, we tend to take for granted all the rights and freedoms we have. It is difficult to comprehend what every soldier has to endure during their tour of duty. We cannot begin to imagine the danger and turmoil our veterans and soldiers encounter on a daily basis around the world. Honoring all our soldiers and veterans is a small compliment compared to what they did for us but it is really our only way to show our thanks and appreciation.
It’s not just about those veterans that have come back from war but it is also about celebrating those who haven’t. Those who were willing to give their lives for their country and unfortunately are easily forgotten should also be celebrated. The men and women that have left their families and friends behind for their country can be celebrated by having memorials to show our respects to those who we love. We need to honor them anywhere and anytime because if we don’t we won’t be respecting them the way they respected and loved our country.
Our veterans have not just fought for our country but other countries as well. The United States and many other countries should be thankful for our veterans along with their own. The entire country is thankful and very appreciative of the helpful services of our many veterans and our current soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
